Met Office issues yellow thunderstorm warning for Cumbria.

The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning across Cumbria for today Sunday 10th September.

The forecast is for heavy thunderstorms that could last approximately 3hours across the area.

The met office has issued a yellow warning, stating there will be a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water that could lead to longer journeys by car and bus. Delays to train services are possible and damage to buildings and structures from lightning strikes may occur.

Rainfall is forecast of around 15-20mm in an hour, but some could see 30mm. 

Through the evening, the heaviest showers and thunderstorms will eases from most areas, but could linger in some parts of Cumbria.
