Man charged and drugs seized following Penrith M6 stop on Wednesday

Detectives from Cumbria Police CID have charged and remanded a man and seized a quantity of suspected drugs following a stop near Junction 41 on the M6 yesterday morning (Wednesday 20th August).

Saimir Jahelezi, aged 31, of Priorswell Road, Nottinghamshire, was stopped by officers from the Roads Crime Unit in his vehicle travelling Northbound at around 10am.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers located and seized approximately 15kg of Cannabis and Jahelezi was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B Drugs.

The investigation and seizure forms part of Operation Alliance -  Cumbria Police’s wider ongoing response to protect the county against serious and organised crime.

Jahelezi is due to appear before Carlisle Magistrates Court today (21th August).
