Body Recovered from River Eamont in Search for Missing Person

A police search for a missing person at Eamont Bridge ended in tragedy in the early hours of Sunday morning as a body of a was found in the river Eamont by a police drone.

Penrith Mountain Rescue Team were called in to help Cumbria police and Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service in the search for the person who had disappeared overnight.

17 members of the Penrith Mountain Rescue Team where involved the search and recovery of the body along with Police Fire and ambulance teams.

The Penrith Mountain Rescue team said: “As the team were mobilising on site we received the sad news that the missing person had been located in the river by a police drone pilot but they had not survived.”

“Our team members worked alongside the fire service and North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust to recover the casualty.”

“Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this difficult time.”
