Appeal for witnesses following fatal road traffic collision on A6 south of Hackthorpe

Cumbria Police is appealing for witnesses as part of an investigation into a fatal road traffic collision on the A6 south of Hackthorpe today (28 Jan).

The collision involved a HGV and a bicycle and occurred at around 11.40am.

The cyclist suffered serious injuries in the collision.

Emergency services attended including an air ambulance. However, the cyclist – a local man in his 70s - died at the scene.

Police are investigating and are encouraging anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it, or anyone who has dashcam which may be of assistance – or anyone else who can assist – to come forward.
